To help you get your fingers around the different grooves that make Latin jazz sound so good, here are 10 common rhythmic patterns from both the Brazilian and Cuban music traditions. Though isn’t technically Latin music, such as salsa and other Cuban grooves are, we’ve included both countries in this lesson since they are the most commonly used non-swing styles that you find in the jazz genre.
